Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

accessorizing a basic fall wardrobe

accessorizing a basic fall wardrobe

There’s something so perfect about Seattle in the fall, especially when the leaves start to change colors. For a region known for its evergreens, there certainly are some magical colors that start to appear when the air turns crisp in autumn. Sean (my fiancé) and I decided to take advantage of these gorgeous colors and play in the leaves at Greenlake, one of my favorite summer spots (& now fall too!)

I work in tech, so my office is pretty casual (think lots of tech bros in jeans and t-shirts). I don’t like to buy too many things that I can’t wear to work, so my fall/winter wardrobe ends up becoming a lot of jeans, sweaters, and booties, the perfect balance of smart casual and cozy. However, sometimes I get sick of wearing the same sort of items over and over, so I’ve found some ways to accessorize and keep it interesting with a basic foundation that I wanted to share with you all!

My favorite accessory trend of the season has to be hair scarves. They can be worn in so many different ways (hair half up, hair in a pony, tied onto your bag, the list goes on!) and they add a fun pop of color to any outfit. You can also dress up your jeans, by getting some with fun detailing (like these exposed buttons!) or add a bag with a tassel or studs.

Read below for the outfit details in these photos!

Wilfred Salette Sweater from Aritzia - Not only is this sweater the perfect cream color (shown below in purple), its soooo cozy. Shopping at Aritzia is definitely considered a bit of a splurge for me, but their quality is amazing and I end up wearing everything I get from there so often! Wilfred tends to be on the more affordable side for Aritzia and is definitely one of my go-to brands. I’m typically a small or medium in sweaters and I’m happy I got a small in this because it does run a little larger.

Madewell 10’ High Rise Skinny Jeans - Madewell is my absolute favorite brand for jeans, especially their high waisted ones. I probably have at least 5-6 variations of their high waisted skinnies, and they all fit SO well. I often have a hard time finding jeans that fit my legs and my waist (weightlifting problems) so when I find a brand I like, I go all in. The button detailing on these are such a fun twist on a regular high waisted jean! I got my normal size 28 in these jeans and they fit perfect.

Madewell Hair Scarf - If any of your follow me on instagram and have watched my stories, you know that I have a ridiculous obsession with hair scarves right now. I’ve always liked wearing my hair half up, but adding a hair scarf gives the half-up look such a boost, and it’s such a fun way to accessorize. Hair scarves (and scrunchies) are all over right now, but Madewell has some of my favorites for sure. I wear this yellow one probably 5x more than any other one I have! They don’t currently have this yellow one in stock anymore, but I linked a few similar ones below!
